Well, we have been to Cuba for the first time, loved it and the people, visited Hoguin and Santiago de Cuba, did some sketches and paintings ,also visited the United States in March , visited old friends and painted scenes I last painted 50 years ago. I'm getting ready for an exhibit in May at Swoon Gallery here in Nova Scotia. I have a very busy summer ahead, "lord willing " as my grand mother would say. paint Peggys Cove and Paint Lunenburg in July .

I have'nt been on the blog for months, busy with sailing, a trip to Maine sailing, a sketch trip to Yarmouth in November and now here's my first painting of 2012. Barrington Head Lighthouse , any comments?

I finished this painting about a week ago ,I is a wedding present for my neice , she's Greek and was married last fall , not bad timing?
I now have a painting accepted in Pastel Arts.ca exhibit in Ontario , good excuse for a road trip and some plein air painting . did some sketching in Prospect fishing village on Wednesday , met a rug hooker , he did beautiful work . cold winter day here again ,good day for the studio and Johannes Vloothuis webinar classes .

I'm working on this new painting ,it's on suede , blue in color and approx 13"x 19" . great stuff to work on , lots of work to go , but the winter passes quicker in the studio , lots of ice in the yard. Oh yeh ,its from a photo I took in Aspotogan ,here in Nova Scotia, any comments?

well its been a week or more , i'm slow! been busy with Paris Salon Exhibition ,and new paintings and weekend webinar classes with Johannes --------
and today I have been contacted by a new gallery "Swoon Gallery" , and I am pleased that they wiill be exhibiting my paintings. I finished this painting of a fishing boat at Tanners Pass , done from a sailing trip there last summer . Any comments?

Well its finished , any comments, I like it, but of course I am prejudiced. Its on to the next project, not sure what it will be , but am driven to produce paintings. we have a relaunch of our VANS art exhibition at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth today at 1pm, also a talk about paris salon ,along with french wine and cheese to sample, sounds good!

Well what a wonderful thing ,a snow blower , just spent two hours with it , cleaning out the walkways and driveways. Have to be able to go to the art gallery opening tonight at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth , can't wait to see all the paintings.

Well I've progressed past this point ,just hav'nt downloaded the photos. It's pastels on black paper.

Feb 02,2011, Snow ,snow ,well we are getting hit with a big snow storm , just opened up the walk to the nearest tree , so our dog "Jack" can do this thing . otherwise its over his head.
On the weekend I enjoyed a webinar ,saturday and sunday by artist Johannes Vloothuis sponsored by wet canvas .

Sunday the 6th I am scheduled to give a talk about my work. Im presently working on a night scene of fishing boats , we'll see how this works?? I'll post it maybe tomorrow , don't know how to post more than one picture per blog?

Well it's raining and snowing , good day to be in the studio , this is a pastel painting under construction! What do you think of it! I'll post it when it is finished.

This is my latest paintings, done from a photo I took while in Ketchican ,on a cruise to Alaska (Sept2010) , its known as the rain capital of America, 215" a year , almost 3/4" every day , wish someone had warned me of this , got soaking wet , natives all wear rubber boots and rain coats. It was during the largest salmon run in 100 years. you could almost walk across the river on the salmon. We had fun ( me ,my wife Stella and my Son Sean)
I work in soft pastels on sanded paper.
