This old farmer with his hay rake just appeared in front of me , while I was walking the road on Tancook Island , Mahone Bay , Nova Scotia. Always have my camera with me , so it was a ready made painting , just had to place him on the road near the harbour , my sailboat is in the background.
About Rae Smith
I am a Pastel Artist , a member of Pastel Arts Canada ,,I work mostly on sanded paper , exhibit at two local galley, Gallery 97 ,Going Coastal Gallery in Chester, Nova Scotia .I paint a lot of marine pictures from scenes captured by camera from my sailboat . Pictures also from travels to Bermuda , England , France,Wales ,Scotland , Dominican Republic , British Columbia and Alaska. I also taught Pastels at Chester Art Centre in July2010 Feb.03,2011 was an opening of an art exhibition at the "Craig Gallery" Alderney Landing ,in Dartmouth,N.S.I has several new pieces there on display. This was a very successful exhibition with approx 150 people at the opening. . Chester Yacht Club is using one of my paintings for Race Week Poster...

I went to Tancook and found this gentleman by the name of Cecil , I gave him a print and he was tickled pink , went around the island showing it to everyone , I understand he has cancer and has his good and bad days , so glad to put a smile on his face.
